PERFECT conditions for a two-lap time trial around the 11-mile Vazon course, which had been used only once before, meant that records were going to be set in all the age categories.

Aaron Bailey set the fastest time of the day with a 49min. 36sec. around the hilly course, which knocked some six minutes off the previous best. The tandem pairing of Graham Le Maitre and Chris Le Page, who are now a regular partnership at Velo Club time-trial events, set the second-fastest time in 49-56.

Tony Bleasdale recorded the second-fastest solo time around the course in 50-39. Grant Chalmers finished third, followed by Rob Smart, Mike Dean, first female Ann Bowditch, veteran Paul Jackson, Jon Osborn, under-16 Callum Hill-Smith, veteran Tim Martin, Philip Touzeau, grand veteran Allan Renyard, under-14 Alex Falla, Oliver Tracey, Stefano Rizzuto, Leon Ogier and Gary Wallbridge.

Will Falla recorded the fastest time in the under-14 one-lap time trial around the same course with a time of 38-12.

New records are now held by Bailey (senior), Le Page and Le Maitre (tandem), Bowditch (women), Jackson (over 40), Hill-Smith (junior), Martin (over 45), Renyard (over 50, 55, 60, 65), Alex Falla (under 16) and Will Falla (under 14).
