The release date for the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been pushed back from November to July next year.
The eight-month change has disappointed millions of fans who have already waited more than a year to watch the next instalment of J. K. Rowling’s literary and film phenomenon.
Sisters Daisy, 14, and 11-year-old Monty Burnard are huge Harry Potter fans.
Monty has seen all the films and read most of the books. ‘I love the descriptions and really get into the books. Once I start reading them, I can never put them down,’ she said.
She was in the UK with her family when the last film was released. ‘I wanted to go and see it so much and my dad gave in in the end and let me.’
Older sister Daisy, a Ladies’ College student, has read all the books. ‘I normally have them finished by the next morning after they have been released,’ she said.
Daisy said the author’s ability to create characters and the accurate conversion to the big screen made the books hard to put down and the films unmissable.
Trailers for Half-Blood Prince began running last week in advance of the expected November release but movie giant Warner Bros said the decision to delay was to coincide with the busy summer season.
The change of date will not alter production plans for the final two-part adventure, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Part one is due for release in November 2010.
