BAILIWICK students are consistently outperforming those in the UK.
GCSE results yesterday showed pupils in Guernsey and Alderney have achieved a pass rate at A* to C of 77% – more than 10% higher than their national counterparts.
That figure was also 3% up on last year. Nearly 630 students received their results yesterday and showed they had once again outshone those in the UK, where 65.7% achieved grades A*-C.
A total of 71.3% of all pupils in the Bailiwick achieved five or more A* to C grades, slightly down on last year but still just under 10% higher than the UK.
‘Once again Bailiwick students have performed much better than those in the UK,’ said Education member David De Lisle.
He paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of staff and pupils in achieving this year’s excellent results.
Speaking yesterday, he said: ‘On behalf of Education I would like to congratulate all the pupils who received their results today and I am delighted that we are maintaining and improving, year on year, the high standard of education in our schools.
‘These results are a credit to the effectiveness of teaching in our schools and the positive attitude of pupils towards learning,’ he said.
