MORE than 1,000 people are expected at the Vale Earth Fair tomorrow.
Final preparations were yesterday being made at Vale Castle, which will play host to the one-day music festival.
‘Tickets have sold better than ever. We are really pleased,’ said co-organiser Rob Roussel.
He said extra tickets had had to be printed to cope with demand.
This year tickets were sold in advance for £10 while on the gate they will be £15.
More than 40 bands and DJs will play across five stages on the day including The Qemists & MC ID, Titan System, Future Shape of Sound, No.1 Station, Hijack Oscar and headline act Alabama 3, who were recently described in The Guardian as the best live band in Britain.
‘Alabama 3 are a major coup. We are really lucky and looking forward to getting them up on stage – they are amazing,’ said Mr Roussel.
Local acts taking part include Killa, Brutus Stonefist, Thee Jenerators, Stan & Pip, Gay Army and Teaspoonriverneck.
All food at the event is vegetarian and includes beanjar and, this year, stalls set up by restaurants Sitar and Sawatdi.
The weather forecast is mixed but Mr Roussel said the Earth Fair had always been lucky with the weather and had his fingers crossed.
All money raised will be split between three charities – The Burma Campaign UK, Free Tibet and Oxfam.
The gate opens at noon and the event finishes at midnight.
Entrance is free for under-14s.
Tickets are available in advance from Number 19, Kendall Guitars, Sound City and Saiko.
