Business from the Guernsey Press

FT’s top UK man is to chair ‘doing business here’ forum

Following the success of a similar report on Jersey last year, the FT, which has 1.4 million readers, is publishing the Guernsey version on Friday 19 September.

To mark the occasion, Image PR is hosting a breakfast forum that day entitled, ‘Guernsey – A Positive Future?’, that will be moderated by FT UK business editor John Willman (pictured).

Chief Minister Lyndon Trott will be joined on a panel by Bob Moore, representing GuernseyFinance, Mark Trenchard from the Chamber of Commerce, Chris Sharp from the Guernsey Hotel and Tourism Association and Tony Mancini, tax director of KPMG.

‘Image Group worked closely with the FT last year for the Doing Business in Jersey event and so we are delighted to be involved once again by organising the Guernsey breakfast forum,’ said group MD Steve Gillman.

‘We have an excellent panel of speakers representing a broad range of business sectors in Guernsey and we are looking forward to a lively and interesting debate.’

The FT has been liaising closely with GuernseyFinance to produce the Doing Business in Guernsey report and Mr Willman has headed a team of reporters preparing the special report, talking to a wide range of businesses and government bodies in Guernsey.

‘The FT recognises that the Channel Islands are key players in all areas of business but we also understand that there are differences between Guernsey and Jersey and so we’re pleased to be able to reflect that by each island having their own report,’ said Julia Woolley, FT business manager for the south-east and Channel Islands.

‘The response to the Jersey report last year was fantastic and we have already had an enthusiastic response from Guernsey’s business community for this report.

‘I am sure that the report and the seminar will undoubtedly highlight the opportunities on offer in the island and demonstrate the skills and expertise that the island has which allows it to successfully do business with the rest of the world.’
