Aurigny reports rival after putting ‘free changes’ claim to test

0539218.jpgAURIGNY has reported rival Blue Islands to the Advertising Standards Authority. Advertisements published in business magazines and newspapers in July and August boasted about Blue Islands’ ‘free ticket changes’.

‘We did tests on their website and found that the claim of no charges for changes just wasn’t true. That’s why we took it to the ASA,’ said Aurigny managing director Malcolm Hart (pictured).

The ASA said that as yet no decision had been made. Aurigny made a complaint about Blue Islands and so the ASA will be investigating the claims and publishing a ruling in due course,’ said spokeswoman Olivia Campbell.

ASA investigations executive Sally Ramsden said the complainant had looked into changing tickets on three occasions and found it was liable to a charge on two of those.

A Blue Islands spokeswoman confirmed that the airline was aware of having been reported.

As a regular business traveller on Blue Islands I quite often find myself having to change flight times and I have not yet been charged for making such a change.

I’m sure that if Aurigny had looked into it they would probably have set out with the intention of trying to find a situation which might incur a charge.
