FORMER Sylvans boss Martyn ‘Digger’ de Garis is understood to be considering an offer to become the island’s new under-21 football manager.
A quick appointment is required with the under-21s in action in a fortnight’s time and after this week’s double resignation of Steve Ogier and Tony Vance, who have thrown their hat in with the Guernsey United project.
There is, as yet, no indication as to whether de Garis (pictured), who proved a popular boss with Sylvans until standing down at the end of last season, will take the job supposedly on offer.
But if he does, it will give him a head start on other possible candidates for the senior island job.
The senior island team do not have any scheduled fixtures until the Muratti semi-final against Alderney in late March and the mooted but as yet confirmed four-team Easter tournament. Therefore there is no obvious rush to put in place a new coaching team to replace Ogier and Vance.
