St Martin’s 2, North 2
IF THE rest of the season continues in the same vein as last night’s clash between St Martin’s and North, it promises to be an intriguing one.
Under the gloomy floodlights of Blanche Pierre Lane, Saints took the lead at the start of the second half before North scored twice and looked like they had grabbed all the points, only for Dom Heaume to score with a stunning effort in the dying seconds.
North boss Mick Le Prevost was clearly in a downcast mood afterwards. Even at this stage of the season, points are vital in a league that, come the end of winter, will undoubtedly be between North, Saints and Bels.
‘I’m gutted,’ said Le Prevost. ‘We worked so hard in that game, but we wasted so many chances. We played some good football but it’s about putting the ball in the back of the net.
‘At 2-1 I thought there was one team in it, then they scored in the last minute. I’ve got nothing but praise for my players. They did their jobs. We’re now two points ahead of them and we were five seconds away from being five points ahead.’
