WHISTLERS A have moved to the top of Division One following three important victories.
The first was a re-arranged encounter against the league’s bottom side, Whistlers C.
The A squad won 9-1 and Alice Loveridge maintained her 100% start to the season by defeating Dawn Morgan, Martyn Gaudion and upcoming junior reserve Lawrence Stacey.
She was taken close by both Morgan and Gaudion, but had enough in her locker to dispatch them in four tight games.
Phil Hunkin added two victories by defeating Stacey in straight games and Gaudion in a tight five-setter. However he was soundly beaten by Morgan in three games.
Mark Pipet did well to defeat both Morgan and Gaudion in four, he was, however, tested by Stacey.
The first four games were split, which left a tense final game in which Pipet’s experience was evident as he upped his game and closed out the match, 11-6.
Pipet and Loveridge also teamed up to defeat Gaudion and Morgan in a four-game doubles victory.
