THE number normally dips alarmingly for the most testing of the winter cross-country series races, the punishing Fauxquets Valley event.
But not this year.
A record field of 80 turned out for the third event of five in the OSA Recruitment Cross-country League and there were several notable performances across the age groups.
As previously reported, Steve Dawes took the first-division honours while Louise Perrio headed the women’s race. Leading Division Two runner Dan Smith was just 10 seconds clear of Perrio.
It was a good day for the women with Katrina Thomson and track star Kimberley Goodall emerging as the winners of Divisions Three and Four respectively.
Newcomers Claire Queripel and Natalie Chamberlain headed the novice women’s one-mile event.
