A BUSINESS run from home is hoping to have found a niche in the market with a new ribbon-making venture.
Set up by Annie Winch and Debbie Baker, Say It With Ribbons specialises in personalised products.
The sashes and banners can vary in width from 10-100mm and banners can be made any length, depending on the message.
Mrs Winch and Mrs Baker work from their respective homes in Vale and Castel.
Mrs Winch, who is also a Creative Memories scrapbooking consultant, said the idea for the business came about when she could not find anybody locally to design a set of sashes and lapels for her Creative Memories team.
‘It worked out to be easier to buy the machine and do the ribbons myself and when Debbie saw them she was very excited, saying they looked really great and that we should start a business together. She bought a machine as well and we went from there.’
The pair now look forward to their business taking off. Their biggest order so far has been for a 50-metre ribbon from a local wedding business that wanted to say thank you to customers with a personalised logo ribbon added to chocolates.
The ribbons are fun to make and sometimes the pair get requests for personal messages that only the receiver would understand, according to Mrs Winch.
‘Debbie and I really enjoy seeing how excited people get when they see the finished product.
‘We started in the summer by just word of mouth and we’re getting busier all the time, but we said that in the new year we would really push it so everyone can enjoy the ribbons. We would also like to have a website up and running shortly to make it easier for people to place orders.’
