CHRIS SIMPSON kept the number-three seed Adrian Grant on court for nearly an hour in Malaysia yesterday.
But the Guernseyman’s superb run into the quarter-finals of the five-star CIMB Malaysian Open ended with an
11-6, 13-11, 11-9 defeat by the Englishman in 57 minutes.
‘It was a tough match and I led in every game, getting three game balls in the second, but I just couldn’t seem to close it out,’ said the Sarnian.
‘I felt I got a little
impatient in each game when leading as I knew that the finishing line was in sight, and against the top 16 in the world you just can’t do that.’
Simpson now returns to Guernsey to spearhead our inter-insular challenge at Beau Sejour next weekend.
