Dewe regains the Sark AC championship

0643293.jpgLIZ DEWE has won the Sark AC’s overall championship – the fourth time in the club’s six-year history that a female angler has taken the top honours.

It is in fact her second championship trophy as she also won in the 2004-05 season.

The last match in the club year was a very disappointing affair. Nine members entered the eight-hour roving shore event but only two brought a fish to the scales.

Dewe (pictured) won with a 3-5-0 grey mullet to score 28.25 points, while Glyn Williams found a 1-8-0 lesser-spotted dogfish for 10 points.

It all meant that Dewe had a comfortable overall victory as she finished on 588.25 points, 125.75 ahead of Williams, who finished on 462.5 in second.

The only active junior in the club, Jason Brehaut, finished in a very credible third with 318.25 points.

MARK LE PAGE has won the West Coast Sea Angling Club’s latest roving shore competition, his winning bag consisting of 44 garfish for 20-10-0 and 93.5 points.

The eight-hour competition attracted a good turnout of 29 members, but only 10 found fish.

The total catch consisted of 108 garfish, one lesser-spotted dogfish, one tadpole fish, five ballan wrasse, six shore rockling and a golden grey mullet.

Second was Mark Hooper with 33 garfish and the dogfish for 13-6-0 and 76.75 points. Lee Gillot came third with 19 garfish and the rare tadpole fish for 10-2-0 and 53.25 points.

The competition kitty was won by the two anglers with the heaviest bags, Le Page and Hooper.

Le Page’s success has meant that he has gone to the top of the championship leader board, albeit with a narrow 4.5 lead over second-placed Gillot.
