SPORTINGBET is giving away hundreds of tickets to the public for next week’s exhibition match featuring local tennis star Heather Watson.
Around 500 people are expected to watch the match at King’s Life on Saturday 4 April and anyone who wants to be among them will have the opportunity to reserve their seat this Friday morning.
Sportingbet’s offices on the Ground Floor of Tudor House in Le Bordage will open at 8am for islanders to collect tickets, which will be given away on a first come first served basis.
Because demand is expected to be high, they will be limited to four per person.
The company, which sponsors the Watson family, has organised the exhibition match.
It will be the first time Watson has played a competitive match in the island since she moved to Florida in 2004 to attend the world-famous Bollettieri Tennis Academy.
Since then she has gone on to reach the top 20 in the world under-18 rankings and earlier this year made it to the quarter-finals of the Junior Australian Open girls’ singles.
Her opponent for the exhibition match will be one of Sportingbet’s local staff, Nick Crawley, who is himself a former UK national junior champion and ex-tennis professional.
Sportingbet community liaison officer Jo Wyatt said that the company wanted everyone to have the opportunity to see Watson in action.
‘It is free for everyone, but obviously because there is a limit on numbers anyone who wants to come will need a ticket in advance.
‘Giving them away on a first come first served basis seems the fairest way,’ she said.Sportingbet exhibition match: Kings Life to host world junior No. 14
