A NEW investment consultancy business has joined the market in Guernsey.

Independent Risk Reporting Ltd, based in St Martin’s, has three key elements to its set-up and has been established by husband and wife team Arran and Charlotte Grisley.

It deals primarily in investment portfolio risk analysis for trustees and investment manager due diligence as well as company secretarial services.

‘We provide investment consultancy and analysis specifically designed for trustees to understand how investment performance is being achieved and assess the level of risk to trust assets,’ said Dr Charlotte Grisley.

And by using a specially-designed investment questionnaire, the pair can also gather effective due diligence on investment managers.

The pair both have considerable experience in the finance sector.

Mr Grisley has a degree in international finance and trade and holds an MBA.

He has worked in finance for 10 years in a range of areas including financial consultancy projects, private equity, investment monitoring and selection and running a hedge fund trading desk as well as trust and company administration.

He is also a full member of the Securities Institute and fully Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners-qualified.

Dr Grisley, who has more than five years’ experience in finance, has a PhD in marine science and is also fully Step-qualified.

‘I feel my PhD in marine science has equipped me with the analytical, accuracy and report-writing skills required for an investment monitoring role.’

She said the two of them definitely saw a gap in the market.

‘After the recent fund manager scandals, the obvious one being Madoff, we have identified a need for increased awareness and investigation into investment opportunities.

‘With our combined strengths of investment and trust knowledge, IRR provides an investment consultancy service specifically designed for trustees.’

Dr Grisley added that despite the uncertain economic climate, it was an exciting time to start a new business.

‘In the current unstable financial environment and with the extra supervision investors are now requiring over investment managers, with our combined skills we are able to provide appropriate due diligence and risk profiling to support the Guernsey trust business.’
