THE Mermaid Tavern’s second Family Fun Day in aid of Help A Guernsey Child raised a total of £2,483 for the charity.

The event was sponsored by the Guernsey Cider Company and took place in Fisherman’s Field on a gorgeous, sunny day.

The selection of bouncy castles included in the play zone were the eliminator, super slide, rainbow maze, double bouncy slide and jungle bouncer. And there was a free children’s entertainer – Mark the Magician – who kept the little ones occupied with his amazing balloon creations. The play zone was supervised by Guernsey Sea Cadets from T. S. Sarnia. There was also face painting and a visit from the Island FM donkey, Daniel, which delighted the children.

Island FM DJ Richard Harding drew the raffle, which included prizes of Laurent Perrier champagne, a Black Rock dinner for two and a gallon of beer.

This was followed by the hugely successful live auction.

The lots were popular items, such as Herm holidays, a Connoisseurs six-bottle dinner wine and port set, patio heater plus umbrella and stand, and a barbecue and mini fridge.

Thanks must go to Alliance Cash and Carry and to Pheonix Foods for their generosity. One child per adult was able to travel free on the Trident, with the kind permission of Peter Wilcox.
