Bean Jar 2
Can you elaborate on your comment referencing dark forces please.

If you mean there are a few people that are wanting human rights legislation and freedom of information acts to be brought into place then I really don't see what the problem is.

Guernsey and especially Sark were experts at covering things up and sweeping whatever they did not wish to be in the public domain under the carpet.

These are things that will be in the past now and rightly so. Sark has been dragged kicking and screaming into reality with the rest of the world with reference to its politics and feudal luxuries.

Guernsey is next in line for a bashing if it chooses to put up a fight or drags its heels iplementing rights enjoyed elsewhere in the modern world.

The whole of the islands constitution is long overdue for a shake up. This is essential to see where all the privilages and luxuries are channeling towards.

Just because some may wish to bring in changes does not necessarily mean that these are going to be bad. In the main it will further the majority. It will only be the minority (as in the likes of Michael Beaumont) that will have something to worry about.

I bet the Sarkees are not complaining about not having to pay the seigneur for his luxurios lifestyle anymore!

I find it rather hypocritical there are those in Guernsey who are slating Delaney and the chuckle brothers because of the power they have in Sark and how they are using this to destroy and take over the island, when in Guernsey these very same sort of english dark forces have been destroying Guernsey for decades and no ones done nothing about this. We have had a multicultural society forced upon us and dare anyone make comment on this...At least in Sark they are standing up to the english dark forces here in Guernsey we have no guts.and there are those who want independence..........

I'm Back -

I don't know who the BarclEy brothers are... But if they are anything like the BarclAy Brothers they must be men with too much money...

Sark is spelt with a capitol "S"

caz_2006@mail.com -

Mr Dalaney comments (according to the article) were taken from the "October edition of the Sark Estate Management newsletter"

Where does it imply that he is representing the people of Sark?

I would like to know which "baskets" they have put their eggs in? They seem very confident about it!

I love Sark. I think it is great that money has been invested in Sark. I don't think investing money somewhere puts you in charge.

So Scarlett,

It is true that the people of sark spoke when the elections happened. But understandable that not everyone agrees that Mr K Delaney may not be the best spokes person, but other people say that he is.

And onto you po boy, if no one on sark wants Mr K Delaney or indeed the Barcley Brothers, maybe you would be so good to explain why after so many people were laid off just before christmas. Why did so many local people decide to take up jobs that were offered.

If the people of sark want to be poor and have to scratch a living just to afford the bare esstianels of life. I would be more than happy to have the amount of money the Barcley brothers have invested into sark. Despite the treatment they have recieved.

If the people of sark keep treating Mr K Delaney and the Barcley brothers badly, who can blame them if they decide to shut down all of their business's on sark and to let the buildings they own fall back into disused eye sores. And then what will the people of sark be saying then.
I can tell you they will be b*%ching and moaning. Pretty much excatly what they are doing now.

Bobby.

That's what elections are for.

'EVERYBODY' was 'asked what they wanted' when they had a chance to to vote, and the people who voted (NOT their representatives) said it - 'we don't want this man as our representative''.

Well thats nice to know
Mom and Dad needed their paycheck the week before Christmas to buy the children presents but... Someone stole the childrens Christmas presents by putting them out of work to protest a election result.

Must come back on the previous comment. Has anyone asked EVERYBODY on the Island what they actually want. Not through elected people but actually asked every single one of them what they want. I think the outcome would surprise a lot of people, in particular those people who do not actually live on the island.

The people of Sark don't want the recently arrived mouthpiece of the wanna-be feudal lords - aka 'the Barclays' - as their representative (as they made that VERY clear in the recent elections) so I really don't know WHAT makes him think they would want him as their spokesman.
This man and his employers' sense of superiority and entitlement really knows no bounds.

What happened to everyone being allowed a say and their views respected.
It appears that only one of the two groups on island is allowed to comment and have their say taken as 'gospel'.
Anyone making a comment from the other 'camp' is derided at the onset.
What happened to taking peoples views on board, chewing them over and agreeing to disagree in a friendly and curteous manner?

Mr Delaney is an employee of the Barclays but also an employer, thus giving work to many of the islanders who, if the Barclays were not there, would probably be unemployed. Who else is investing in the island.

About time everyone got down off their high horses and worked together. But then that would be too easy.

This man does not represent Guernsey or Sark. He is an employee of the Barclay Brothers, and should remember this.

To put him in the paper after all the trouble they have caused in Sark is amazing.

Where the people of Sark place their money is not really any of the Barclays or their employees business.

Interesting artical, Sark’s future will be decided by its government, not thankfully by Mr Kevin Delaney. If he wants a say in it then he must stand for election, Oh I forgot he did, remind me what happened.
