GUERNSEY have regained the Iles de la Manche Trophy.
The home side emerged victorious in the tenpin adult inter-insular at the Island Bowl, although Jersey did have something to celebrate as they retained the Rose Bowl Trophy (juniors).
The men’s singles saw Guernsey’s Steve Cutler (average 203.67) victorious over Ross Gavey (193.33) and Simon Ferrow (192.67), of Jersey.
Guernsey took the first three places in the doubles with Mick Prigent and Bob du Feu in top spot from Garry Hale and Derek Tomlin and John Gauvain and Simon Le Tissier.
The men’s trios event saw Jersey’s Paul Gay, Paul Le Louarn and Mike High taking gold from Sarnians Matt Southwell, John Gauvain and Cutler with Greg Gettings, du Feu and Prigent in third place.
The team event was headed by Jersey’s Spike Burgess, Ross Gavet, Ollie Pirie and Jeff Edwards with Prigent, Hale, Du Feu and Tomlin taking second place from Jersey’s Ferrow, Le Louarn, Gay and High, who finished third.
The men’s high game of the tournament was recorded by du Feu with 256 with the high series falling to Prigent with 633.
The men’s all-events saw Cutler victorious with an average of 194.60 over 15 games, followed by High (192.73) and Prigent (188.87). The final result of the men’s section saw Guernsey finish with 279 points against 261 for Jersey.
The women’s singles saw the first three places falling to Guernsey with Lauren Hurford (average 198.17) obtaining gold from Danni Le Couvey (182.67) and Stephanie Hale (178.50).
The doubles was also a clean sweep for Guernsey with Le Couvey and Linda Robilliard, Joanne du Feu and Hurford and Chantelle Hale and Chris French finishing first, second and third respectively.
The trios event saw Le Couvey, du Feu and Hurford victorious from Jersey’s Steph Le Lion, Hannah Jeanne and June High with Stephanie Hale, Babs Savident and Robilliard placing third.
The team event saw the first two places going to Guernsey in the form of Le Couvey, du Feu, Robilliard and Hurford and Chantelle Hale, Stephanie Hale, Hazel O’Neill and French with Jersey’s Le Lion, Jeanne, High and Clare Swindale taking third place.
The high game of the tournament was achieved by Le Couvey with 253, who also recorded the high series of 635.
The all-events was a one, two, three for Guernsey with Hurford (average 196.07) finishing ahead of Le Couvey (184.47) and du Feu (179.80). The final result saw Guernsey gain a comprehensive victory with 318.5 points against Jersey’s 221.5.
The overall results in the adult sections meant the women’s and men’s shields and the Iles de la Manche trophy return to Guernsey after Jersey’s victory last year.
The junior section saw mixed fortunes for Guernsey with home star Josh Harvey successful in the singles event with an excellent average of 205.67, followed by Jersey’s Ajay Taylor (201.67) and John Paul Rabet (172.33).
The doubles saw Jersey’s Taylor and Melissa Kendall come out on top from Harvey and Adam Baker with Rabet and Rachael Jeanne third.
The trios event saw Harvey, Baker and Jordan Le Tissier gain gold from Rabet, Taylor and Peter Edwards with Jeanne, Kendall and Paula Logan in third place.
Harvey also recorded high game of 278 (the highest game of the tournament) and high series of 685 (highest series of the tournament).
The junior all-events saw Harvey in first place (average 201.75), followed by Taylor (181.75) and Rabet (172).
The final result of the section saw Jersey victorious with a points total of 151 against 119 for Guernsey, Jersey therefore taking the Rose Bowl back to Jersey.Iles de la Manche and Rose Bowl Trophies: Home sides win one, lose one at Island Bowl
