Guernsey’s best reclaim the top honour

GUERNSEY have regained the Iles de la Manche Trophy.

The home side emerged victorious in the tenpin adult inter-insular at the Island Bowl, although Jersey did have something to celebrate as they retained the Rose Bowl Trophy (juniors).

The men’s singles saw Guernsey’s Steve Cutler (average 203.67) victorious over Ross Gavey (193.33) and Simon Ferrow (192.67), of Jersey.

Guernsey took the first three places in the doubles with Mick Prigent and Bob du Feu in top spot from Garry Hale and Derek Tomlin and John Gauvain and Simon Le Tissier.

The men’s trios event saw Jersey’s Paul Gay, Paul Le Louarn and Mike High taking gold from Sarnians Matt Southwell, John Gauvain and Cutler with Greg Gettings, du Feu and Prigent in third place.

The team event was headed by Jersey’s Spike Burgess, Ross Gavet, Ollie Pirie and Jeff Edwards with Prigent, Hale, Du Feu and Tomlin taking second place from Jersey’s Ferrow, Le Louarn, Gay and High, who finished third.

The men’s high game of the tournament was recorded by du Feu with 256 with the high series falling to Prigent with 633.

The men’s all-events saw Cutler victorious with an average of 194.60 over 15 games, followed by High (192.73) and Prigent (188.87). The final result of the men’s section saw Guernsey finish with 279 points against 261 for Jersey.

The women’s singles saw the first three places falling to Guernsey with Lauren Hurford (average 198.17) obtaining gold from Danni Le Couvey (182.67) and Stephanie Hale (178.50).
