FOUR days before his under-21s attempt at a third straight Ambassadeur Bowl victory over Jersey, island coach Tony Vance has been boosted by good news from the treatment room.

The five players who have played little of late due to injuries were all given a tough work-out at training on Monday.

‘Miles Pengelley, Matt Loaring, Kieran Mahon, Alex Le Prevost and Ben Coulter all came through a strong testing session,’ said Vance.

‘As far as I’m aware we’ve got the full 17-man squad to pick from and they’ve all been able to put themselves in the shop window.’

Vance concedes Pengelley, a contender for a full-back slot and a member of last year’s starting side, midfielder Mahon and winger Loaring have played little football of late and won’t be match fit.

‘But the important thing is that they are available,’ he said.

The side will be announced to the team at a further training session tomorrow night and they will meet again on Friday evening.

Jersey’s under-21 hopefuls, who are now under the guidance of Jersey Scottish Muratti player Dave Brodie, were due to play a final trial game at St Ouen last evening.
