LES Beaucamps High head teacher Peter Le Cheminant said shaving off his beloved beard was well worth it.

He let school behaviour co-ordinator Nicky Black do the deed to raise money for Children in Need.

And along with events such as I’m A Student Get Me Out Of Here bushtucker trials, a sponsored 24-hour static cycle and a student having his legs waxed, the school raised more than £750.

‘I think that judging by Mrs Black’s humorous performance she must have been practising,’ said Mr Le Cheminant.

‘She did an expert job.

‘I was a bit concerned not only for my beard but also for my health when she came out like Eminem with a chainsaw.’
