Andy Priaulx’s race is about to end almost before it has begun as Jordi Gene makes contact with the BMW Team UK car approaching the first corner in Macau. The Sarnian, who had started on the front row, was pushed into the barrier and out of race one. THE final races of the FIA World Touring Car Championship round the streets of Macau were disappointing for Andy Priaulx after retirement in race one and 13th from a back of the grid start in race two.
From second on the grid in race one the BMW Team UK driver found himself in the barriers before the first corner.
‘There was just nowhere for me to go,’ said the Sarnian.
‘Afterwards I spoke to Jordi Gene who said he was touched on the left which then pushed him into me.
‘You speak to every driver and they have a different story, but at the end of the day I was in the barrier.
‘In these close racing circumstances with a rolling start we have to expect this sort of thing to happen, but it was disappointing as I would have loved a good result here.’
