THE new teams are showing big improvements in the inaugural Indoor Nets League.
For example, the progress being made by Specsavers is impressive with shooters Vicky Atkinson and Tammi Ford finding their range while Elaina Le Tissier is linking well in centre court.
Against the far more experienced Autumn Gold, they fought until the last whistle and never let the opposition relax.
However, Julie Fallaize was in excellent form for AG, scoring with most of her attempts in a 45-16 victory.
Meanwhile, Dark Horses took on the Magnificent 7 and although it was always going to be a tough game for them, they fought hard all the way.
Their defence of Nicky Wrench and Katie Wicks did their best to stem the flow of ball to the shooters, but the crisper play of Mag 7 and less unforced errors were to be the difference in this game, as they ran out 33-16 winners.
Specialists took on Cenkos in a very low scoring game.
Both teams seemed to find it hard to score, but Cenkos had the better court play which gave them more chances at goal.
It was a game played in great spirit and good fun, but Cenkos were never in danger and won 13-4.
Sarnians continued their winning ways as they overpowered the youngsters of Nerine in a somewhat one-sided game.
Laura Calloway and Emma Uttley worked well together in the circle and scored some great goals.
Lydia McClean played well for Nerine, but Sarnians are the team to beat in this league, as they posted yet another win, 31-18.
THE eagerly anticipated clash of the unbeaten two in the Mixed League lived up to expectations.
Rocky Tropics and Richmond produced a real thriller, with both using the combination of female netball stalwarts and enthusiastic tall men to great effect.
An added bonus for the Tropics was that the late start enabled Carrie Dodd to hot foot it to the ICG centre straight from Beau Sejour, where she had played for Panthers in Super League, to play a full part in the match.
It was a hard fought encounter throughout with both teams enjoying purple patches.
When the Tropics got their passing right, their attacks were swift and clinical as shooters Donna Brehaut and Lee Savident rarely missed.
However, Richmond, who played in a more controlled manner, had shooters in fine form too with Jan Fazakerley popping in goals from all angles while the energetic GA Tom Creed weighed in with his fair share.
When it came to the business end of the match, though, Tropics had seemingly made a decisive break with Savident and Brehaut giving them a 34-28 lead with just a few minutes remaining.
Richmond refused to panic and capitalised on wayward play from Tropics to score five unanswered goals and trail by just one with around 90sec. on the clock.
Tropics steadied the ship at the crucial moment, though, and used the height and safe hands of Savident to retain possession in the dying moments.
They emerged from a real thriller 36-33 winners.
Earlier, Hot Fuzz had been just a touch more clinical in their finishing than opponents Mag 7 to secure a 22-18 victory in an entertaining clash.
Meanwhile, Raw Talent came up against an in-form Heritage, who unfortunately lost the services of Joe Abbotts when he popped his Achilles tendon.
The game was played in great spirit, though, as Heritage ran out 19-7 winners.
In the other encounter, Aon and Ogier produced a feisty game with neither team willing to give an inch.
Yvonne Le Gallic ran the centre court for Aon and Jason Allez popped in the goals while Jamie Roussel and Toyah Le Page did likewise for Ogier.
For much of the game, it was finely poised, but Ogier eventually broke ahead and won 26-16.Indoor Nets League: Sarnians continue dominance while Tropics win battle of mixed top two
