HEATHER WATSON goes into this week’s Eddie Herr Junior Championships in her home-from-home of Bradenton, Florida, as the number one seed.
The Sarnian star is the highest ranked junior in the girls’ singles competition, being number three in the world.
Watson reached the finals of the Eddie Herr last year, losing to Lauren Embree (USA).
The tournament is played on her home courts at the IMG Bollettieri Academy, which should be an additional bonus for her.
Watson is also partnering Magda Linette from Poland in the doubles.
They played together earlier this summer in Roehampton, winning the doubles final, and a few weeks later at Junior Wimbledon reaching the final 16.
Her first singles match will be tomorrow and first doubles match on Thursday.
* DESPITE being knocked out in the first round of the main draw in Toronto earlier this month, Watson has now jumped a further 21 ranking points in the WTA Women’s circuit to 561.
