A GUERNSEY-BOUND passenger said it took three times as long to get through airport security at Bristol Airport yesterday.

Tighter measures have been introduced at a number of UK airports following a failed terrorist bombing on Christmas Day – but Guernsey Airport has not been advised to step up security.

‘Extra security measures had a knock-on effect on my flight. We were delayed boarding the flight and I was due to land at 1.20pm but didn’t get to Guernsey until after 2pm,’ said the passenger.

People flying to and from America via major UK airports have faced delays of up to three hours following the arrest of Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Christmas Day.

The 23-year-old has been charged with trying to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit.

He tried to detonate explosives strapped to his leg, which had gone undetected through airport checks.

Airport director Colin Le Ray said no changes to existing security measures were being advised by the Department for Transport.

If you dig more info on this, it will be apparent to you that he never really is a NIGERIAN though he was born of a Nigerian father. For my part he makes me sick!

Funny that, all the security staff must have been transfered there from Heathrow. I got an out going flight from Heathrow on Sunday and it was the easiest and slackest security I have ever seen. We didnt have to show our Passports to get past 2 gates into the Departure lounge and also didnt have photos taken as we went through, and this was 12.30 on Sunday lunch time. Very Surprising,I was expecting alot more.
