ISLANDERS have until Friday to put forward this year’s Flybe Island Heroes.
The awards offer support and recognition to people in the fields of sport, education and charity.
The sporting category is open to any individual, club or association. The winner will receive a grant of £7,000 towards travel costs or new equipment.
Any island-registered charity is also eligible to enter in their category and could win funding for a project.
The education category is open to any individual or school that is providing an educational service on a non-professional basis.
Previous winner of the sports category, 14-year-old ballerina Teresina Stefani (pictured), has been able to live out her dream thanks to the bursary from the award.
She was nominated for the award by her mother, Lisa Vizia.
- Islanders need to write an application of no more than 250 words nominating a person or group in one of the categories. It should include the nominator’s name, address and daytime telephone number.
- Applications should be sent to Flybe Island Heroes, Guernsey Press and Star, PO Box 57, Braye Road, Vale, Guernsey, GY1 3BW.
