A GROUP of professionals in the construction industry has formed the Guernsey CPD Club.
The new organisation, set up following a meeting of the Construction Industry Forum, aims to provide continuing professional development and business networking opportunities for construction professionals, something its founding members believe is important in an industry where there are frequent changes in regulations, technology and working methods.
‘CPD is a requirement of many professional institutions and is part of the life-long learning process that is necessary in the modern working environment,’ said group member Olly Brock, an architect at Lovell Ozanne & Partners.
‘The expectation that learning stops with your professional qualification is very much out of date and without keeping up with new practices and new knowledge in the industry, it is difficult to remain competitive and maintain professional standards.’
