GUERNSEY POST has enhanced its Investor in People accreditation.
The company remains the only local utility to achieve IIP endorsement and has now achieved silver standard accreditation.
The IIP award scheme, which was reworked in 2009 to introduce bronze, silver and gold levels, assists and supports businesses of all sizes in achieving improved people management practices and business performance.
Using interviews and assessments, IIP helps organisations with their business planning, employee engagement and management effectiveness, evaluating what is working and what needs further improvement.

Bravo!
That explains the unbelievable increases in sending letters and parcels…
Don’t get me started on Guernsey Post. I know for a fact that there were a big handful of low admin type people who got given redundancy packages that were £40/£50k plus – this was last year. Also they postmen whose overtime rates give them salaries of £60-£80k a year.
Guernsey Post is a disgrace and will get whats coming to it. It wouldn’t know what value for money is if was stood right next to it.

@Pratt – I can’t comment on most of what you’ve written but I would say that the reason why some postmen can get £60k+ a year is they are working 12 hour days, 6 days a week and working on their days off, hardly a life really but obviously their choice.
I think we expect these people to work for nothing sometimes and although most employers don’t offer overtime I know for a fact that since the job losses at the PO as well as the extended rounds, everyone is being stretched.
It has gone from one extreme to the other to be honest. But yes I accept your point that there are people in admin positions at the post office who really are on far higher wages than industry standard – common for public sector though!
