Better consultation by GFSC welcomed by industry

Paul MeaderPLANS to assess more effectively the impact of proposed financial regulatory measures have been welcomed by the Guernsey International Business Association.

Guernsey Financial Services Commission director-general Nik van Leuven announced at its recent industry update that a new methodology to assess the regulatory impact of proposed measures was to be trialled.

He told the audience that the commission was concentrating on how the initiative would work ahead of consulting with the industry.

But the move has already found favour with Giba, according to committee member and spokesman Paul Meader (pictured). ‘Giba welcomes the GFSC’s desire to improve and enhance the consultation with industry,’ he said.
