Sure helps CWC’s surge in revenues

MOBILE data has been highlighted as a factor in impressive half-year results posted by Cable & Wireless Communications.  Revenues grew by almost a quarter worldwide, due mainly  to growth in Macau and the Bahamas, and the company, which demerged from the former Cable & Wireless Group in March 2010, said that it had benefited from increased non-voice mobile revenues.  It highlighted 4% subscriber growth for Sure mobile in an ‘intensely competitive’ Guernsey market, a 9% rise in broadband subscribers and average revenue per user up 11% in the island.  Mobile data revenue rose by 94% across the group, with a noticeable trend in customers upgrading to smartphones and using their handset for applications and mobile internet rather than just voice calls.
