CRUISE liner passengers are thought to have made a major contribution to record visitor figures kept at the Guernsey Information Centre in Town this year.
To the end of November 130,707 people had passed through the centre, the best result since it opened in 2003 and a 13.8% increase on 2010.
New monthly records were set throughout the peak season, as well as in April and November. The best month ever recorded was achieved in August, when 30,201 people passed through the building.
‘The frequency of cruise liner visits and day trips does impact quite significantly on potential footfall through the centre,’ said Peter Falla, marketing director at the Culture and Leisure Department.
