CONTINUED demand for training and development despite the difficult economic conditions has been described as ‘hugely encouraging’ by the chief executive of the GTA University Centre.

‘Training budgets are holding up in 2012 despite the obvious need for cost control – and what a change that represents,’ said Fiona Naftel.

‘Years ago, when we introduced the Excellence in Training Award, one of the first things companies did in times of restraint was cut the training budget.’

Speaking at the Awards for Achievement event, she said that continued support for staff development ‘speaks volumes for the ability of local businesses to look to the future’.
