THE new owner of C&W in Guernsey has said that it has no plans to cut staff locally once the acquisition is completed.
Batelco Group, the company behind Bahrain Telecommunications, bought the majority of the assets of Cable & Wireless Communications’ Monaco and Islands business unit at the beginning of December for $680m.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval and should be completed by the end of CWC’s financial year. Representatives of Batelco are expected to pay a first visit to the islands in January.
Peter Kaliaropoulos, chief executive officer, strategic assignments at Batelco Group, pictured, said it was inappropriate to discuss specific plans until the deal was completed.

I 2nd Jeff, I remember Kraft saying they’d be no job loses when they aquired Cadbury’s and now that Irene Rosenfeld woman refuses to appear infront of MP’s to explain her companies U-turn.

How on earth does this man expect us to believe a word he says? Cable & Wireless promised a world class service when we gifted them our telecom company and look what we have now. These multi national companies are all the same, they pay lip service to what they think we want to hear and keep their real plans secret. Deputy Jones is right with every word he has written in today’s Press.
