IT IS hoped that a combination of Guernsey’s wave and tidal power and financial services expertise can combine to develop cleantech business.

Through the efforts of Guernsey Finance and the States, the island pushed its credentials in this area at various events last year, with more planned for 2013.

‘We have taken some initial steps to build Guernsey’s profile as a centre which can provide a range of financial products and services to the cleantech sector,’ said Fiona Le Poidevin, chief executive of Guernsey Finance, which formed the financial services cleantech group, with industry involvement, last year.

Its aim is to focus on opportunities to provide financial products and services to the cleantech sector.
