PRIVATE equity was responsible for the top five funds launched in Guernsey over the past year.

In compiling the definitive report on the market share of service providers in the Guernsey funds industry, independent fund research company Monterey Insight has identified the major players and trends.

‘The importance of private equity funds for the industry is underlined by the fact that the five largest schemes launched during the past year were all private equity funds,’ said Karine Pacary, managing director of Monterey Insight, which has taken over the annual survey from Thomson Reuters Lipper Fitzrovia.

Guernsey-based giants of the private equity industry, Apax Partners, EQT Partners and Cinven, were the largest promoters of Guernsey-domiciled schemes over the period covered by the report, the year to the end of June 2012.
