Triple success for Livingroom

THERE was a triple success for estate agents Livingroom last night in the new-look business awards at the Guernsey Awards for Achievement.
The business claimed the new BWCI Innovation Award and the inaugural Healthspan Excellence in Marketing prize before completing the set with the Commerce and Employment Business of the Year trophy.
‘I cannot believe it – I’m gobsmacked,’ said director Simon Torode, who founded the company in 2006, and relaunched it last January.
He said that the relaunch saw a change of focus away from only dealing with the higher end of the market to embrace all properties, with a mix of innovation and its own bespoke approach to marketing, particularly through the company website. It had paid off, with a claimed 25% market share by value of Guernsey property sales in 2012.

I’m sorry, an estate agent wins an award for innovation….! Pull the other one. It must be very nice for these image and pr obsessed types of business to make up awards to reward themselves. It’s all just a glossy veneer I’m afraid, style over substance.

Livingroom sells property across the board and offers the same service for every client – have you used them yourself? It seems others have and can vouch for their service and success. Your views are very harsh and is Livingroom not a ‘local’ company who is constantly promoting Guernsey and this is something you should be supporting as an islander?

Did you actually see what they won the innovation award for? Livingroom has invented a system completely unique for vendors plus I want to Live Here and a bespoke back end system for the company http://www.livingroom.gg/choosing-us/my-livingroom.aspx

that’s overstating it somewhat.
they have taken an idea which is used in many service industries (letting clients have access to a personalised extranet to see the progress of their projects) and got an excellent local IT firm to design a system for them in order to make it work. They didn’t “invent” anything.
doesn’t take away from the fact that they are very good, and very successful, at what they do, and seem to be a very good employer.

Seems to be a hard working company/people and certainly makes an effort to produce and represent properties very well. Some (not all) agents should take note. In the past I have seen some very poor property details presented to me and sometimes you wonder what the sellers are getting for their money.

I had a small flat in Victoria Road that I sold 5 years ago. Must have been the cheapest flat on the books of LivingRoom at the time! One agent valued it at £113k, another at £125k (shame on both of you), and LivingRoom at £178k. I accepted £176k within 2 days of them marketing it. I’m glad to see LivingRoom getting the credit they deserve. Well done Simon and Team.

Be interesting to see how many houses they are selling in three years from now,
I might be interested in a farmhouse for around 10K max, big enough to keep the farm animals on the ground floor and for me to live upstairs.
