A small place with big ideas

ONE of Britain’s most innovative thinkers has likened Specsavers to iconic FC Barcelona.
Charles Leadbeater, pictured, highlighted both organisations in his keynote speech at the annual Awards for Achievement.
Barcelona he described as ‘the most innovative organisation in Europe’, with a culture of connectivity and creativity, founded from La Masia, the base for its youth academy.
‘Creativity is not an individual thing – it’s a network of people working together in collaboration,’ said Mr Leadbeater.
‘You will not win unless you pass. If you want to pass you have to be connected to someone.’
The Specsavers success story also reverberates with the key themes of Mr Leadbeater’s talk – that small is the best place for big ideas to emerge and that having a good product is never enough.
