A STRATEGIC review of the finance industry in Jersey will help to keep the island among the leading international finance centres, according to the head of Deutsche Bank in the islands.
Guernsey-based Andreas Tautscher, pictured, is also involved in the review of the financial services strategy in Guernsey.
He said that the Jersey review had already demonstrated that reputation was crucial and that the island should do more to defend what it does against envious or misinformed critics.
‘The McKinsey [consultants used to compile the report] research shows that IFCs are here to stay and Jersey remains very competitive because of the quality it provides,’ he said.
‘Cost is not really an issue – it’s quality, focus and reputation that are important – and quality is key because cost-side pressures push out any business that is not good quality.’
