What I will say is that I suspect his style and vocabulary come naturally to him rather than being intended to show off. Any offense is, I suspect, unintentional. Certain human traits can result in quirky behaviour, we are all different and have unique ways of expressing ourselves. I suspect you are more mature than him unless you are also a sixth former and therefore you are in a position to demonstrate good communication, diplomacy and acceptance of the views and communication styles of others. I have noticed some of the unusual words he uses are popping up more and more frequently by other contributers on this forum which is an indicator that he is influential in his use of big words.
