4x4s can be used by people who have farmland, or may go off-roading abroad. Other than that I don't see the use or need for one in Guernsey. Some people think that taking their kids to school or using it to transport their weekly shopping 0.5 miles home qualifies as a good reason. When I grew up I had to use the school bus or was transported around in my mum's Austin Mini (and I considered myself lucky for that privilege as well!)
