Ed Your second paragraph completely over-analyses the situation. Let me simplify it for you. It's about supply and demand. At the moment, there is insufficient demand for agricultural use. That may well change in the future. If it does, then make sure that the land is capable of being returned to agricultural usage. Until then, let it be used by somebody else who has a current demand for it. I used the word "temporary" very deliberately in my earlier post.
