Why do people always assume that the consumer is stupid? Education is key for tobacco, the consumer knows it is bad for them. Education isn't key. Everyone knows what is good and bad. People often make poor choices but they're not uninformed. This tax is pointless. As Ed said people are often addicted to sugary drinks, they'll still buy them. I don't think they contribute a whole lot to the obesity crisis. Poor diets and lack of exercise is the problem. Overweight people know this.
