PLP, I totally agree with you, I wonder if the day will come when sweets and fizzy drinks are hidden from view just as cigarettes are, based on the fact that an excess of such items is bad for your health... apparently. As one of the other posters said earlier, years ago we ate and drank items that are now considered 'harmful' to our health, but I would venture to say that its more the case that we exercised a heck of a lot more than the average schoolchild of today. Personally I think that ensuring youngsters got regular excercise during school hours and parents accepting responsibility for their children's wellbeing out of school hours, would go a lot further than sticking 20p on a can of 'pop'.
