However, Spartacus, I wouldn't advocate a complete ban on fizzy drinks- just reduce the quantity imported and locate the items in less convenient areas of the supermarket. It is widely considered by business psychologists that situating necessary goods such as bread and milk at the far end of a supermarket is a good profiteering ploy since customers are invited to purchase luxuries such as chocolate and fizzy drinks as they travel around the place. Yet I personally believe that a business can still have good trade by relocating junk food to less convenient parts of the store as people, conscious about the potential shortening of their life expectancy and other detrimental health effects associated with such items, will make repeat purchases as they are pleased that such firms are making a conscious effort to improve their quality of life. Then again this depends on the attitude of the individual.
