You make a valid comment re all the fuel that we sell to visiting super yachts etc. It was why I was horrified at the suggestion that we should build a berth in the harbour big enough to encourage super yachts to come here for cheap fuel. Turning ourselves into a glorified petrol station for the super rich- doesn't seem like much of an aspiration to me. Influence on the the wider world does not have to be our raison d'être. Reducing our emissions is more about increasing our energy efficiency and reducing our dependency on imported fossil fuels. A low carbon future with renewable energy technologies will be a more secure future, less vulnerable to outside influences, and I think full of exciting opportunities. That can only be good thing in my book.
