Martino I take your point that if people decide to eat red meat it must be processed under modern hygiene standards to ensure the food is safe to eat. That does not justify subsidising it though. It merely justifies regulation and enforcement of relevant laws. Do you feel that all private food processing facilities, which also require safety measures, should be subsidised? My point was that red meat carries a government health warning and therefore people should be encouraged to find their protein and vitamin requirements from other sources which do not have a health warning.
