South-East

The next 4 years will be extremely important to us. I am very confident about Guernsey’s future, however outside influences are having an affect on our economy and lifestyles. We must ensure that these do not change our cherished identity.

Budget restraint is very important but we must be careful that we do not reduce our services to levels that will cause discontent.

We must win back the Island’s confidence and put a smile on people’s faces to stir in them a feeling of Island pride

We need a more cohesive government.

We need to develop nursery facilities within our primary schools similar to St Andrews, which must not be closed.

We must broaden the base of our economy and monitor its performance over the next 2 to 3 years to allow for whatever adjustments will be needed to our benefit.

We need to develop a “can do” attitude towards Industry, and market Guernsey to let people know we are open for business.

We need to make the Environment Department reduce the time it takes to reach planning decisions. It simply takes too long!

We must protect our environment and harness tidal power.

Cultural, sporting and leisure facilities need to encompass everyone and in particular our youth, who need more facilities…especially a skate park!

We need a States with commitment that has stability and continuity. It needs to be visionary. Waste, sewage, airport runway etc all need substantial finance. We must develop public/ private partnerships to meet this expenditure.

Whatever our future brings it must be one that we all share together, one of consideration, one of fairness and one that consults with everyone. The issues are simply too important.

I hope you will give me the opportunity of trying to give you that future
