Dear Elector

I am a full time deputy with 8 years experience representing St Peter Port and St Peter Port North. I have shown that I have vision, commitment, professionalism and honesty.

I am Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, a member of the Home Department and of the Commerce and Employment Department. I have also served on the Housing Department, Traffic Committee, States Cadastre Committee and Gambling Control Committee.

Leadership and trust

I believe the government requires politicians who provide sound judgement and leadership, with less talk, more action, not bickering and indecision. Strong effective leadership is the key, with greater consultation and communication.

Bringing the States to account

The States should be subject to full scrutiny and I am committed to more openness. As chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, I have worked hard to ensure greater accountability than ever before. I have taken 14 successful reports to the States and under my leadership issues of overspends have been raised and recommendations taken on by the States to improve accountability and reduce risk.

Corporate Planning

It is important for the future government to embrace a corporate approach to planning and delivery. The new members need to look forward and work with the Government Business Plan, and include the introduction of prioritisation, timescales, funding requirements and a reviewing process.

I am aware that the next four years of the states will continue to be a challenge, however by communicating and working as a team, Guernsey’s success story will continue.

I am passionate about Guernsey and will continue to work hard to deliver results for you the electorate of St Peter Port North.
