I am concerned that some recent State’s decisions are detrimental and will cause significant change to our society and way of life. I keep up-to-date on currant affairs and read the Billets. Our economy must be balanced and money used wisely. A cohesive and decisive government must plan for our future well-being.

My priorities.

A good education for all children, good health facilities, better social services for elderly and mentally ill people. Public participation in major departmental matters and in planning that affects our landscape. Freedom of information legislation tailored for Guernsey will ensure accountable and open Government.

Best practice must be followed for waste disposal, including, reducing, reusing, recycling, treatment of sewage and long term planning for sea defences, including upgrading the runway to cater for today’s small jets.

We are independent, thrifty, hard working and have wide ranging interests, not merely Guernsey Ltd., whose sole purpose is in profit margins. Companies should be here for reasons that suit us, contribute fairly towards the upkeep of our public services and accept our island values. Zero-10 tax places an unfair burden on Islanders. I will support proposals to make it broader. Control of our autonomy and legislation and a strong Island identity is vital to protect our Finance Industry against future EU and OECD adverse directives.

Our population must not increase. Schemes can be put in place to encourage people back to employment. Tax incentives for pensioners, subsidized nurseries, and flexible hours for mothers. Local people could be encouraged to return.

I am local and determined that we are treated fairly. That our environment, traditions, and way of life are protected and that the economy is sufficient to meet our needs for the future.

With your vote I will speak out and fight for fairness.
