My campaign slogan is give the people what they need because I believe the good people of Guernsey deserve so much more than they actually get. These aren’t just empty words, because we are paying more now in rates and taxes than we have ever paid. Yet vital services keep being cut. That’s wicked and it’s got to stop. Guernsey is unbalanced at the moment and we need to get the right people into the States to attain some much needed balance. We all deserve to enjoy our lives but all too often we get caught up in the rush and tear of ‘trying to make a living’ and actually miss out on the chance to enjoy life itself. This isn’t a rehearsal, This is your one and only life and we should all be allowed to stop and smell the roses occasionally.
Once we have attained balance we can ‘move forward’ with our efforts to ‘grow our economy’. We have a successful finance industry so our focus now has to be on the development and support of ‘local’ businesses, (it breaks my heart to see so many of them struggling to survive). At the same time we must be sensitive and considerate to our environment. We must retain the ‘parts of Guernsey’ that we all cherish. Manhatten is smaller than Guernsey and has a population of over one million……do we want Guernsey to end up like that? I don’t think any of us want Guernsey to become a small city! This is our island home and these are our people.
I would consider it an honour if you elected me because I could then ‘get in on the inside’ and help to improve the quality of life for the good people of Guernsey.
